A member of the very first AYSC team formed, Kim has a special attachment to the club and its coaching philosophies. AYSC gave Kim and several of her lifelong friends an opportunity to participate at a higher level. Throughout her soccer career, Kim was a member of several state championship teams for both club and high school. She traveled to regional tournaments and participated in several ODP Camps. Voted the Gatorade Player of the Year her senior year of high school, Kim went on to play Division I Soccer at the University of Maryland and the University of Kansas. In Maryland, she had the amazing experience of being coached by April Heinrichs before she became the National Team Coach. Earning a BS in Exercise Science from the University of Kansas, Kim came back to Anchorage to work as the soccer coordinator for the Anchorage Sports Association. She received her teaching certificate from UAA and has been teaching at Goldenview Middle School for 13 years. Post college, Kim has continued to play soccer, often, with her teammates from her AYSC youth team.
